Strikethrough Text Generator
Strikethrough Text Generator overlays a combining strike mark on each non-whitespace grapheme.
Example: strikethrough text generator
sale
s̶a̶l̶e̶
How to use this tool
- Enter a short word or phrase.
- Run Strikethrough; whitespace should remain unmarked.
- Paste it into the destination and check the overlay alignment.
How the result is made
Instead of deleting or crossing out a word with CSS, the tool appends U+0336 to each visible grapheme. “sale” becomes s̶a̶l̶e̶. Spaces and line breaks are left alone. Because the mark is part of the text sequence, the effect often travels with copied text.
When to use it
Use it for a short playful correction, a crossed-out label, or a comparison of plain-text decoration methods. Underline Text Generator uses a different combining mark below the letters. For a web page you control, semantic deletion markup is preferable when the crossed-out text has actual editorial meaning.
Details to check
Combining marks can render unevenly across fonts, especially on emoji or already accented characters. The copied output contains extra code points, which affects character counts and text matching. Verify readability in the target app and avoid relying on this style for critical corrections.
