HTML to Plain Text
HTML to Plain Text extracts readable text from an HTML fragment and discards common nontext elements.
Example: html to plain text
<b>Hello</b>
Hello
How to use this tool
- Paste HTML markup.
- Run the extraction.
- Review spacing, block breaks, and missing nontext content.
How the fragment is handled
The browser parses the input as HTML. The tool drops script, style, template, noscript, iframe, and several media or link elements, then reads text while adding breaks around common block elements and line breaks. A simple “<p>Hello</p><p>World</p>” fragment becomes separate text lines.
Useful conversion tasks
Use it to turn a saved snippet, copied article markup, or a short HTML email fragment into text for editing. It strips tags rather than preserving CSS layout, tables, alt text, or interactive controls. Compare the result with the rendered page when omissions would matter.
Boundary of the output
The conversion is a convenience extractor, not a sanitization certificate or faithful accessibility rendering. Entity decoding follows browser parsing, and whitespace is normalized. HTML Entity Encoder Decoder instead escapes or decodes characters while leaving markup structure as text.
Questions people ask
Will it keep image alt text?
The current extraction drops image elements, so do not rely on it for alt text.
Does it preserve visual layout?
No; it makes a readable plain-text approximation.
Is the result a cleaned HTML document?
No; the result is plain text.
