How to use this tool

  1. Paste the full text, including blank rows.
  2. Run the counter and compare paragraph and line totals.
  3. Inspect leading and trailing line breaks when the totals look unexpected.

How the result is made

The tool trims the full input for paragraph counting, then splits it at blank-line boundaries. It counts lines by newline-separated pieces whenever the original input is nonempty. “a”, a blank line, and “b” yield two paragraphs and three lines. A visual wrap in your editor does not create a physical line.

When to use it

Use it to inspect document structure, verify a form’s paragraph limit, or see whether copied content contains extra blank rows. Sentence Counter estimates punctuation-delimited thoughts rather than line structure. Remove Empty Lines changes the line count by deleting blank rows.

Details to check

The paragraph rule treats a blank line as a separator; a single newline inside prose still belongs to the same paragraph block. Leading or trailing blank lines can affect physical line count even when trimmed away for paragraphs. Check actual newline characters if the numbers surprise you.

Questions people ask

Does visual wrapping add lines?

No. Only actual newline characters count.

What separates paragraphs?

A blank-line boundary.

Can a paragraph contain several lines?

Yes. A single newline does not necessarily start a new paragraph.
