Remove Invisible Characters
Remove Invisible Characters deletes a defined set of zero-width and formatting code points.
Example: remove invisible characters
ab
ab
How to use this tool
- Paste the suspicious text.
- Run Remove Invisible Characters.
- Compare the output with the source and test any affected script or emoji sequence.
How the result is made
The tool removes zero-width space, joiner and non-joiner, word joiner, and byte-order mark characters in its explicit map. A visually continuous “ab” becomes “ab” after the hidden separator is removed. Visible letters, punctuation, and ordinary spaces remain.
When to use it
Use it when pasted text behaves strangely in search, line wrapping, or identifier comparison despite looking normal. Remove All Whitespace addresses visible and standard whitespace characters; Remove Diacritics strips combining marks that can carry linguistic meaning. This tool has a narrower formatting-character focus.
Details to check
Not every invisible Unicode character is in this list. Removing a joiner or non-joiner can change shaping in some scripts or emoji sequences. Inspect multilingual text and keep the source when character-level fidelity matters. The tool does not reveal where deleted characters had been.
