Remove Punctuation
Remove Punctuation deletes Unicode punctuation characters while keeping letters, numbers, and spacing.
Example: remove punctuation
Hello, world!
Hello world
How to use this tool
- Paste the text to clean.
- Run Remove Punctuation.
- Inspect hyphenated words, contractions, and remaining symbols.
How the result is made
The tool removes characters in Unicode’s punctuation category. “Hello, world!” becomes “Hello world”. It leaves ordinary letters, digits, spaces, and line breaks in place. Mathematical symbols and emoji are not necessarily punctuation, so they may remain.
When to use it
Use it to prepare text for a simple comparison, build a word list, or remove sentence marks from sample data. Remove Numbers targets numeric characters; Remove Emoji targets pictographic sequences; neither is equivalent to punctuation removal. For carefully formatted prose, edit punctuation manually.
Details to check
Deleting punctuation can join tokens: “well-known” becomes “wellknown”. Apostrophes can disappear from contractions and quoted text. This is a character-category operation, not a grammar-aware rewrite. Review word boundaries before feeding the result into another tool.
Questions people ask
Are spaces deleted too?

Will all symbols disappear?
