Reverse Words
Reverse Words moves complete words into the opposite order on each line. Their internal spelling remains readable.
Example: reverse words
red green blue
blue green red
How to use this tool
- Enter a phrase or several lines of text.
- Run Reverse Words; each line is handled independently.
- Read the result to confirm the word order and punctuation are where you want them.
How the result is made
The tool divides each line into runs of non-whitespace characters and whitespace, then reverses those runs. A simple “red green blue” becomes “blue green red”. A line break remains the boundary: words on one line are never swapped with words on another line. Punctuation attached to a word travels with it.
When to use it
This is useful for testing an alternative phrase order, making word-order puzzles, or reversing a short list written on one line. It differs from Reverse Each Word, which keeps the word order and reverses letters inside each word. It also differs from the homepage, which reverses character order.
Details to check
Because spacing runs are reversed too, irregular spaces or tabs may move to a different position. This is a mechanical token reorder, not a grammatical rewrite. Review punctuation and natural language after conversion, especially when the source has commas, quotation marks, or unusual spacing.
Questions people ask
Are the letters inside words changed?
No. Each non-whitespace run remains intact.
Does it reorder words across line breaks?
No. Every line is processed separately.
Why did my spacing move?
Whitespace runs are part of the sequence being reversed.
