Alternating Reverse Text
Alternating Reverse Text reverses every second line and leaves the lines between them unchanged.
Example: alternating reverse text
alpha bravo
alpha ovarb
How to use this tool
- Place each alternating unit on its own line.
- Run the tool; expect lines two, four, and six to reverse.
- Check blank lines and the pattern after any edits to the input.
How the result is made
Line one remains as entered, line two has its grapheme order reversed, line three remains, and the pattern continues. For example, “alpha” on the first line and “bravo” on the second becomes “alpha” followed by “ovarb”. The line positions themselves never change.
When to use it
Use this for alternating visual patterns, paired text exercises, or a simple obfuscation effect in a list. It is different from Reverse Lines, which changes line positions, and from the homepage reverser, which reverses every line. Keep each intended unit on a physical line.
Details to check
Empty lines count in the alternation. Adding a blank line can shift which later lines are reversed. The new tool reverses grapheme clusters in modern browsers, but a fallback may use code points; preview emoji and complex scripts before use. The operation does not recognize paragraphs automatically.
