Alternating Case Generator
Alternating Case Generator applies a repeating lower–upper pattern across letters.
Example: alternating case generator
abcdef
aBcDeF
How to use this tool
- Enter the phrase to style.
- Run Alternating Case; the first letter will be lowercase.
- Check the pattern after spaces, punctuation, and line breaks.
How the result is made
The first Unicode letter becomes lowercase, the next becomes uppercase, and the pattern repeats across the entire input. Non-letter characters keep their appearance and do not advance the counter. “abcdef” becomes “aBcDeF”. A space does not restart the alternation for a new word.
When to use it
Use it for a playful caption or to test how mixed case looks across a sentence. Random Case Generator makes independent choices, so its result can change on every run. Invert Case uses the source casing, whereas Alternating Case follows a fixed position pattern.
Details to check
Languages with unusual case behavior may produce more than one code point for a letter. Because the letter counter continues across words and line breaks, changing an earlier letter can shift the later pattern. This is decorative text, not a reliable identifier style.
Questions people ask
Does each word restart with lowercase?
No. The letter counter continues through the full input.
Do punctuation marks advance the pattern?
No. Only letters do.
Will the same input give the same result?
Yes, subject to the browser’s case mapping.
