Sentence Case Converter
Sentence Case Converter lowercases the input and then capitalizes letters at detected sentence starts.
Example: sentence case converter
HELLO. WORLD.
Hello. World.
How to use this tool
- Paste the prose to normalize.
- Run Sentence Case and inspect starts after punctuation.
- Restore proper nouns, acronyms, and missed sentence starts.
How the result is made
The tool first converts the full text to lowercase. It then capitalizes a letter at the beginning of the text or after a period, exclamation point, or question mark followed by whitespace. “HELLO. WORLD.” becomes “Hello. World.” The rule is pattern-based, not a full sentence parser.
When to use it
Use it to turn an all-caps draft into ordinary prose casing or to create a consistent first pass for labels written as sentences. Title Case raises every detected word start; Sentence Case leaves most words lowercase. Capitalize Each Word retains existing interior capitals, which this tool does not.
Details to check
Proper nouns, acronyms, and product names are lowercased and must be restored by hand. A sentence after a newline without terminal punctuation may not gain a capital. Abbreviations and punctuation without following space can also confuse the simple pattern. Review prose before publication.
Questions people ask
Will names remain capitalized?
No. The initial lowercase pass removes those capitals.
Does a newline always start a sentence?
No. The pattern needs the beginning of text or terminal punctuation followed by whitespace.
Is it a grammar checker?
No. It applies a case pattern only.
