Split Text into Chunks
Split Text into Chunks cuts the entire input into consecutive pieces of a chosen grapheme length.
Example: split text into chunks
abcdef
abc def
How to use this tool
- Enter the text to divide.
- Set Chunk size and run the tool.
- Inspect whether spaces or original line breaks landed inside chunks.
How the result is made
The tool segments displayed graphemes, takes groups of the selected size, and puts each group on a new line. With a size of three, “abcdef” becomes “abc” then “def”. The count is clamped between one and one thousand. Spaces and original line breaks count as graphemes inside the sequence.
When to use it
Use it to inspect fixed-length blocks, prepare simple test data, or break a token into manageable pieces. Wrap Text to Width tries to preserve words; this tool ignores word boundaries. Split Text uses a literal delimiter instead of a fixed length.
Details to check
Because line breaks are part of the input sequence, existing lines can be cut inside a chunk and the new output can look irregular. The tool does not measure bytes, so a chunk of three graphemes can occupy more than three UTF-8 bytes. Check downstream size limits separately.
Questions people ask
Does it count bytes?
No. It counts grapheme clusters.
Will it keep words together?
No. It cuts at fixed grapheme counts.
Can it split an emoji?
Grapheme segmentation generally keeps a displayed emoji cluster together in supporting browsers.
